Active Supervision and Transition (Jun 16)

STARS Credits: 2

Navigating all of the dynamics that are present when supervising groups of youth can be tough! This is particularly true when things are out of the norm or on the move like transitions throughout your day or while you're out at the local park. Supervision is more than simply watching youth. It is an active process of being constantly aware of the environment and interacting with youth in ways that builds positive relationships, monitors and addresses safety, and reinforce positive behavior. This requires staff who are alert, competent, and skilled. In this training we will explore strategies for Active Supervision that keeps kids safe, strengthens connection and supports autonomy.

In this workshop, participants will:

  • Participants will learn how to effectively monitor youth utilizing active supervision strategies
  • Gain understanding and practical tools for helping youth build awareness and independence
  • Understand the importance of planning for transitions
