Celebrate the 21st annual Lights On Afterschool, Oct 22, 2020!
Every year, Lights On Afterschool highlights amazing expanded learning opportunities all over the nation! Programs open their doors and social media to invite families, schools, policymakers, the media, and others to see the amazing work happening after school to engage youth and improve academic and social-emotional learning outcomes.
Given COVID-19, planning an event is easier than ever. Plan your online event and invite funders, policymakers, educators, and families. Here in Washington, we have a goal of getting as many Washington programs registered as possible to show our state’s leadership when it comes to providing quality expanded learning opportunities afterschool and during the summer.
Afterschool Alliance’s Lights On Afterschool webpage has a lot of great resources and ideas. You will also find a comprehensive event planning toolkit full of event ideas, timelines, sample messages, and lots of other tools to make this as easy as possible!
- Host an online community event highlighting your program’s learning opportunities and work to support students and families during COVID-19;
- Post to your personal social media or organizational social media accounts to promote Lights On Afterschool and your program; and/or
- Send an email to your parents, funders, and stakeholders asking them to Light Up their page.
Please let us know if you have any questions or other ideas for how to help promote Lights On Afterschool this year. Contact: David Beard or Brianna Kirschenbaum.
