You Can Support Youth Outcomes in School and Life

It’s this simple: quality expanded learning cuts the opportunity gap.
Research clearly shows that high-quality expanded learning after school and in the summer improve attendance, behavior, and grades while building the social-emotional and 21st century workforce skills needed to succeed in school and in life.
Over the past three years, the Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) Quality Initiative has been providing high impact, quality support to programs in King, Pierce, Spokane, and Walla Walla counties.
For the state’s 2019-2021 Biennial Budget, School’s Out Washington is working with partners on a $2 million budget proviso which will:
- Increase the number of youth accessing high-quality programs;
- Create a focus on improving school-age child care to improve youth outcomes; and
- Develop a focus on programs working with youth in foster care, that are homeless, and that have interacted with the juvenile justice system.
In order to continue and grow this work, we need your help! State legislators are working now to craft the budget and your support for Extended Learning Opportunities and the ELO Quality Initiative will help get this funded in partnership with private funding.
