Washington Afterschool Network meetings coming to a small town near you
by Jon Sayer | | Posted under
In the weeks and months ahead, you will see a new advocacy push for expanded learning afterschool and in the summer. A part of this effort includes having more focused Washington Afterschool Network (WAN) meetings that accomplish four things:
- Input into Decisions – WAN makes decisions about afterschool and summer policy and public funding strategies.
- Quality Improvement – WAN helps shape field development including building a quality improvement system, developing a state policy plan, and increasing professional development opportunities for programs.
- Learning Community – WAN offers the space for programs and other interested parties to learn about different ideas and interests of the afterschool and summer field.
- Opportunities to Network with Peers Statewide – WAN provides a platform for program directors and staff to dialogue and meet individuals from other programs.
To meet these goals, WAN will be meeting in the small towns listed below. Aspiring advocates in King, Pierce, and Spokane counties should join their local Expanded Learning Opportunities Community Coalition.
