Here are some headlines with stories involving and impacting the afterschool and youth development field. Of particular note is a recent editorial in the Seattle Times focused on education priorities for the 2014 legislative sessions. Expanded learning opportunities, summer learning, culturally responsive instruction and partnership were highlighted as some of the key strategies to close the opportunity gap. Also included below is a story on school discipline laws and how changing current practice is key to addressing racial inequities within our education system.
