Changes to STARS Training for Child Care Professionals
by Jon Sayer | | Posted under
An important announcement was recently issued from the Department of Early Learning regarding STARS training for professionals working in family child care homes and child care centers.
Beginning July 1, 2014, Child Care Basics will be the only initial STARS training curriculum available to professionals working in family child care homes and child care centers. The current curriculum developed by The Department of Early Learning in collaboration with a team of early childhood education faculty in Washington focuses on Core Competences for Early Care and Education Professionals.
However, for professionals in family child care homes and child care centers working with school-age children, the 20 Hour Basic STARS training curriculum will remain available to them until the Child Care Basics curriculum is revised for school-age facilities.
Trainers working exclusively with professionals working in school-age programs will still be able to offer the 20 Hour Basic STARS training.
