2017 Feed Your Brain Grants Awarded
by Christina Hannan | | Posted under

Every year, School’s Out Washington gives out grants of up to $5,000 to support providing children with nutritious meals and learning opportunities during the summer months in high-poverty, rural areas of Washington. Since 2001, SOWA has impacted over 22,000 children and youth through this project in some of our state’s most isolated communities. Along with a grant, schools, community-based organizations and/or tribes receive training and technical assistance to implement quality practices. Additionally, through our partnership with Page Ahead, each Feed Your Brain grantee received free, new books to distribute to the children and youth in their program.
This year, we are pleased to announce the following programs have been awarded a Feed Your Brain grant to operate their summer program and offer free meals through the Summer Feeding Service Program:
- YMCA of Jefferson County, Port Townsend
- Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, Sequim
- Newport School District, Newport
- Ocean Beach School District, Long Beach
- Wheatland Libraries, Reardan
- Youth and Family Link, Longview
- White Salmon Valley School District, White Salmon
- ROOF Community Services, Rochester
- Gess Elementary, Chewelah
- 21st CCLC Afterschool Program Grand Coulee Dam School District, Coulee Dam
